This is a life-long time dream of mine and couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to not only share my passion for fly fishing and this breathtaking area of British Columbia, but also to facilitate a fantastic fishing experience and teach people about our unique and truly wild freestone fishery for the native trout that inhabit the rivers and streams here. I am proud to call the Kootenays my home.

Being an avid outdoorsman since I was young, my father and mother instilled in me a love and respect for fishing and the outdoors. After graduating from the Canadian Institute of Outdoor Leadership with a diploma in 2003, I began my quest to make a living as a guide and have been successfully pursuing a career in the guiding industry ever since. What I enjoy most about guiding and fishing is the life-long relationships with clients and the friends, stories, smiles and laughs that are made on every journey.

I look forward to continuing along this path and making many more great memories and friends !

It’s hard to believe its been over 30 years since I began my career as an angling guide in my hometown of Kimberley, British Columbia. I cannot thank all the clients enough for the many great memories we have had and friendships made along the way!

I couldn’t be happier to have passed on my many years of experience, knowledge and hard work to a local guide. Although I have bowed out as the fly fishing outfitter for Kimberley Fly Fishing, I am pleased to be able to continue to guide long time clients and be a part of this business I have been so dedicated to for all these years.

I have been a fly fishing guide with Kimberley Fly fishing since 2018. I fell in love with fly fishing at a very young age, as my dad(John Wallace) was the founder of Kimberley Fly Fishing and had me with a fly rod in my hands before I could even walk. I have grown up fly fishing all the lakes and rivers here in the East Kootenays and is my favorite past time.

I love getting out with a variety of clients, from beginners to experienced anglers and meeting people from all over. Each guided trip is a new experience and I love introducing and showing people my home waters and the incredible fishing. I look forward to continuing guiding with Kimberley Fly Fishing and can’t wait to get back on the rivers again this season! Come on out and I’ll show you exactly what I mean.

I have had the pleasure of guiding clients on our amazing rivers here in the Kootenays for Kimberley Fly Fishing since 2019. I started fly fishing at the age of 15 and have never looked back since. However, fly fishing took a backseat to skiing and mountain biking for a few year’s. When I moved to Canmore I rediscovered my love for the sport here chasing beautiful westslope cutthroat in the crystal clear alpine lakes to the skiddish browns in the Bow River.

From there I moved to the Kootenays in 2012 and have been enjoying the amazing wild freestone fishery here exploring the world class rivers in this incredible area.  I eagerly anticipate the spring when I begin chasing bull trout and pre spawned cutthroat trout on the Kootenay until the classified waters open for fishing June 15 until the snow and ice chase me off the river.
